Graduate Nurse Programs

Mater Health Services offers the newly graduated registered nurse and enrolled nurse a range of exciting opportunities to launch their career in nursing.

Registered Nurse Graduate Program 2011 intake

Applications are open from 5 July 2010 and close at 5 pm, 6 August 2010.

Mater's Graduate Programs for registered nurses are designed to assist graduates with the transition from study into nursing. Our graduates will work within a supportive environment, allowing them to provide exceptional care.

Mater’s graduate nurses are free to choose from the following programs:

Mater Adult Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane

Paediatrics (Mater Children's Hospitals)

Please Note: All graduate programs listed are subject to availability and may not be available during each graduate intake. Please refer to the Preference Form for the current programs offered.

*If you are successful in obtaining a position on a rotational graduate program at Mater, we will provide you with a list of available rotations and you will be asked to select your preferences from this list.

All programs will include:

  • one week orientation
  • supernumerary time throughout all programs
  • professional development days
  • clinical learning packages and competencies
  • full support by clinical preceptors, clinical facilitators, graduate support coordinators and nurse educators

Required documents:

  • Preference form
    Your preference form must be downloaded, completed in full and attached to your application. You can print and attach a scanned copy to your application, or complete the form on screen, save and attach. Please note that your application will be invalid without your preference form
  • Cover letter
    Detailing your area of interest and identifying why you want to join the exceptional Mater team
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    Detailing your education, clinical placement and work experience
  • Two (2) recent clinical referee details
    It is compulsory to include two clinical referees on your CV who are able to report on your clinical nursing experience. You must include their contact phone number and their professional email address (commercial or private email addresses will not be accepted).
  • If you are not an Australian citizen
    You must provide a copy of your residency / visa
