Registered Nurse Graduate Program—2012 January intake

The 2012 Mater Graduate Program January intake is now closed.

Mater's Graduate Programs for registered nurses are designed to assist graduates with the transition from study into nursing. Our graduates will work within a supportive environment, allowing them to provide exceptional care.

Mater Health Services is committed to providing personal and professional development opportunities for all of our team members. The aim of all of our graduate programs is to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to assist you in becoming an exceptional registered nurse.

Our organisation

Mater Health Services Brisbane was the first organisation to win a Queensland Greats Award, and its 7000 staff and volunteers care for more than half a million patients each year, across seven private hospitals, three of which provide care to the general public.

With such a wide variety of specialties, Mater Health Services offers a broad range of medical, surgical, outpatient, emergency and community health services across the spectrum of clinical specialties.

At Mater Health Services, we aim to provide our staff with the highest standard of professional and personal support offering flexibility and conditions not readily available elsewhere.

Graduate Programs

Mater’s graduate nurses are free to choose from the following programs:

Mater Adult Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane

Paediatrics (Mater Children's Hospitals)

Please Note: All graduate programs listed are subject to availability and may not be available during each graduate intake. Please refer to the Preference Form for the current programs offered.

*If you are successful in obtaining a position on a rotational graduate program at Mater, we will provide you with a list of available rotations and you will be asked to select your preferences from this list.

All programs will include:

  • one week orientation
  • supernumerary time throughout all programs
  • professional development days
  • clinical learning packages and competencies
  • full support by clinical preceptors, clinical facilitators, graduate support coordinators and nurse educators

How do I apply?

Before submitting your application we strongly recommend all applicants read the Registered Nurse Graduate Program Recruitment Outline Document in full.

What needs to be included in your application?

Please note that any applications not including the details and documents requested will not be considered, so please ensure your application is complete before submitting.

  • Preference form
    Your preference form must be downloaded, completed in full and attached to your application. You can print and attach a scanned copy to your application, or complete the form on screen, save and attach. Please note that your application will be invalid without your preference form
  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Two (2) recent clinical referee details
  • If you are not an Australian citizen
    You must provide a copy of your residency / working rights visa clearly showing your eligibility to work full time in Australia for 12 months from January 2012.
