Midwifery at Mater
for Overseas Midwives

The Mater Mothers’ Hospitals (public and private) manage over 7,600 births and 1,200 neonatal admissions each year, including over 100 neonatal retrievals.

The hospitals provide antenatal, perinatal and postnatal services; and specialise in caring for severe complications in pregnancy, as well as newborn disorders. High-risk mothers and newborn babies are referred for specialist antenatal care through the Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine which is at the forefront in the development of innovative techniques for congenital and intrauterine malformations.

In addition to this, an ambulatory service provides a number of midwifery antenatal outreach clinics and a Home Care Program.

Opportunities now exist for dynamic and highly motivated midwives to join the Mater team.
